Bourbon is a dark colored spirit typically made only in Kentucky. Some consumers use bourbon and whiskey interchangeably, this is inherently wrong. Some manufacturers call their spirit ‘Bourbon Whiskey’ which can be confusing. Bourbon is different from whiskey in the fact that in the aging process no flavoring is added. The flavor in bourbon comes naturally from the charred White Oak barrels the bourbon is stored in. Unlike whiskey where flavors are added to smooth out the harshness of the spirit.
As the old adage goes “All bourbon is whiskey, but not all whiskey is bourbon”
