The Filler is where the cigar gets a lot of it’s character and overall taste. Filler tobacco typically is constructed from three types of tobacco leaves: Volado, Ligero, and Seco. The master blender tries many different combinations from their harvest to determine the exact flavor profile they want this new blend to have. Sometimes mixing leaves from different plants grown in different countries will give the cigar a completely different flavor. That’s why on some filler descriptions you’ll see Nicaraguan, Dominican. The master blender has combined plants from two different countries to try and give this blend a unique flavor profile. All of that is based on the Filler tobacco.
