Irish Toasts:
If you’re looking to impress your friends this St. Patrick’s Day (or just feeling festive), here’s an Irish toast specifically for St. Patrick’s Day.
Saint Patrick was a gentleman,
Who through strategy and stealth,
Drove all the snakes from Ireland,
Here’s to toasting his health.
But not too many toastings
Lest you lose yourself and then
Forget the good Saint Patrick
And see all those snakes again.
If you’re looking for an everyday toast, here are a few.
Here’s to being single…
Drinking doubles…
And seeing triple!
I drink to your health when I’m with you,
I drink to your health when I’m alone,
I drink to your health so often,
I’m starting to worry about my own!
May the luck of the Irish
Lead to happiest heights
And the highway you travel
Be lined with green lights.
May you have all the happiness
And luck that life can hold—
And at the end of all your rainbows
May you find a pot of gold.
When we drink, we get drunk.
When we get drunk, we fall asleep.
When we fall asleep, we commit no sin.
When we commit no sin, we go to heaven.
So, let’s all get drunk, and go to heaven!
Irish Pub Joke:
Along with plenty of good toasts, the Irish are known to have a few pub jokes!
There’s a train going from Dublin to Killarney and the train is full. There’s a connecting door between the carriages and a man, Brennen, rushed into the carriage and says, “Is there a Catholic Priest on the train?” They all looked at each other and said, “No.” Brennan says “Right” and then rushes out. Ten minutes later he rushed in again and says, “Is there a Protestant Vicar on the train?” They all looked at each other and said, “No.” Brennen said, “Right” and rushed out again. Five minutes later Brennan rushed in again. He was about to open his mouth when a man stood up and said, “I am a Baptist Minister. Can I help you?” “No,” said Brennan, “You can’t help. We’re looking for a corkscrew.”
These toasts and joke are generic to the best of our knowledge. We’ve seen them on multiple sources so if you know their true origin please let us know and we will be more than happy to give appropriate credit.
